Posted on Thursday, Sep 16, 2010 - 7:40 pm: Dear Dr. O,Can I use some of this horse course information for my students if I properly document the source? I am in the process of developing a basic horse handling class at a local community college in Western NY. It will be an introductory class and I want to give information on the basics of several areas such as stabling, pasture management and fencing, routine vet care, common medical concerns, etc. My class is designed to be lecture style only. My classroom will be my indoor arena and stall barn. I will be doing all the demonstrations/lectures this way because of insurance costs and my preliminary agreement with the college. No hands-on with the intent to send students out to the surrounding community to get the hands-on experience they desire. Western NY has many great horse experts. I would like to have hand outs. I already planned to tell people about your site and to use it. This is an awesome resource for people. You have helped me so much. I am a PE teacher, back yard horse owner, and published 4 books for a famous horse trainer. Now I want to share much of this training information with others - those thinking about getting into horses - a start-up program, generate interest and then send them out to the horse community. I am not interested in doing a lesson program, just want to help others get a good start and learn to be critical thinkers from the get-go. It's the safety thing that is ingrained in me. Sure would like to use some of your pictures and basic information if I could. Please let me know! |

She slipped out of it in July when it was wet--leather and for some silly reason, she will not let me put it on her. Now this collar is not tight and the dog is never tied. If she sees that stupid collar in my hand, she takes off and stays a short distance away from me...smiling at me. Will NOT come until I put the collar away. I'm not really sure who is training who here... |
