  Discussion on Coosa breeding
Author Message

Posted on Saturday, Mar 18, 2000 - 11:29 am:

Can anyone tell me anything about the personality of Coosa bred horses. Have friend who is having trouble with her horses out of a Coosa Stud. They are very difficult to handle. Thinking of getting Coosa mare but know very little about this blood line. I do know he goes back to Impressive. I think he is double bred Impressive.

My *personal* impression of Impressive bred horses
is that they kinda lazey, dull, sometimes
unpredictable & sour. I have not been to fond of
them for a working horse. They probably have a
better place in the halter clases that they were
bred for in the first place.

That being said, you can deal with it through
solid training and I think each horse is
individule. I think it is also important to not
automatically chalk it up to heritage with out
fully investigating other possible causes for
temperament, such as pain.

I would say keep in mind if you like the horse
then don't write it off just because of the blood
line.

*(Disclaimer: I am not Impressive bashing, I know
there are good horse of all blood lines,... this
is just my own impression of the ones that I have
personally incountered.)
