I'm in the market for a new horse. My guy is finally retiring. Sad day for me, but a happy one for him. I've started checking out the Web for Horse Classifieds. There is not shortage of sites. Does anyone have any recommendations? I live in New Jersey and am training in Dressage. I would be interested in travelling as far south as North Carolina and as far north as Connecticut for the right horse. Thanks all.

Dede, have you tried Dreamhorse.com or Equine.com? These are the two that I regularly check out (even tho I'm not in the market for a new horse - I just love to see what's out there) and I did use Dreamhorse.com to advertise a horse once and got a decent response. I have not purchased a horse through either so can't share any experience in that regard. Both sites have horses from all over the country, every breed and discipline. You can narrow your search just about any way you want.

Looking for a new horse is fun, frustrating, time consuming, maddening...but when you come home with that perfect new partner, most gratifying. Best of luck!

A nice site is www.valhallatrakehner.com. Go to their sales page. I can attest to their breeding program, and they have a long history of the horses they sell being exactly as advertised. Shannon Brinkman took most of the photos, so the page itself is a pleasure. I have two Hailo babies I bred myself, and Jean knows her bloodlines for >20 years now. She breeds for the ambitious adult amateur, with attention to temperment and soundness. A bit out of your way, but worth a look. Happy Hunting, Stacy
