Hi, I have a 3.5 yo QH gelding, Luke. He has what I think are strange urination habits. First, he urinates on his hay and second, he will quite often urinate 3-5 times in an hour, although this is obviously not constant or his pasture and stall would be flooded! They all seem to be full fledged pees! He does not seem to have any problem urinating. There is no straining and there don't seem to be an false alarms. He is fit, not at all fat and doesn't seem to drink any more than my older gelding, who does not urinate on his hay or as often. My vet doesn't seem to be concerned. Any thoughts???

Thanks! Ruth

Hello Ruth,
I am not sure you are describing a disease process nor can I rule one out. For more information on urination and tracking down abnormal urination Ruth see Diseases of Horses » Urinary System » Normal Urination in Horses.
