I am due to give some vaccinations to a miniature foal. Instead of buying the pre-drawn shots from my vet, I have purchased the entire vile (after all, it will soon be time to do give spring shots to all the rest). My vet will typically draw up the rabies dosage for 1ml for a mini (instead of the 2ml for a full size horse). Should the 5 in 1 be given at the full 1ml dose or should it be given at an adjusted dosage for the size. He is 6 months old and approximately 60-70 pounds.
thanks

Though I am often tempted, I do not know any work to suggest that mini's should be give a reduced dosage. Neither human nor small animal vaccines are titered to dosage. We do know the rabies vaccine is less effective in horses so, as our article direct you, I recommend following label directions.

Thank You, sometimes we all need a little reassurance so we don't end up second guessing ourselves!
