Hello,

Saturday I gave our horses ther semi-annual EEE, WEE and tetanus. This included our year-old QH. This is the first time I vaccinated him, but the previous owner said the colt was vaccinated six months ago.
My question: As I was about to inject the needle, I bumped the plunger and lost, my guess, around 15 percent of the vaccine prior to injection. Would it be wise to re-vaccinate, since I know he didn't get a full dose, or would the double-dose do more harm than good?

Thanks

Billy

You should have stopped and pulled up a full vaccine. By delaying the revaccination a few days you do risk a greater reaction: you have stimulated the immune system with the first injection and now you are going to put in antigens for the stimulated immune system to react with. If you only lost 15% (injected 0.85 mls) I think I would just go with that.
