Hello Dr. O.,
Can we give a pregnant mare a "5 way" within the last 30 days of gestation or does it have to be given 4 to 6 weeks before birth? We have 2 mares due within the next 10 days. Our mares have had the required shots at 5,7 & 9 months but did not get the last "spring" shots within the 30 days prior to birth what shots should be given and how long after the birth of the foal? In this case what shots should the foal get? Thanks, Dianna

I went looking for the article, "Vaccine Schedules" and found it had fallen off somewhere. I have put it back up in the "Vaccines and Coggins Test" topic. You can click on the topic in the navigation bar at the top of this page. There is also more information at » Equine Reproduction » Breeding and Foaling » Care of the Newborn Foal and Mare.
