I posted several weeks ago about this same mare who also had no worming history. I got this mare at the beginning of April and she was not (and still isn't, really) halter broke. I have a halter on her and we're working through her issues and I feel confident I can give her vaccinations without incident.

If the breeding dates I've been given are correct the earliest date the foal should arrive is June 5th. She's not showing any signs of getting close at this point.

Now, to my questions. I've been told by a long-time horse owner friend (although probably not the most up-to-date on veterinary science) that I should not give my WN vaccination within the last 30 days of the pregnancy. With less than 3 weeks to a possible foaling date is it safe to give the Fort Dodge WN vaccine? If so, and the EWTF is given a few days later, will the immunity for these viruses be available in the colostrum in such a short time?

Thanks again in advance.

A month would be better but 3 weeks better than nothing.
