If you have an injury or joint that is inflamed and needs to be hosed with cold water you can use this alternative. Fill a container with cold water and ice cubes. Using a turkey baster you can suction the cold water and apply it exactly where you need it. This is great for when you don't want to drag the hose out or at night, in the rain, or in the winter. The turkey baster applies the water where you need it and doesn't make as big a mess.

Good tip Maureen. Especially useful with a facial wound. Our horses don't really like the hose up by their face. We used a turkey baster to cold water drench a puncture wound on one of our horses. She jabbed herself with a dead branch and put a hole almost right through her cheek into her mouth, but not quite. She let us flush the wound whenever we wanted with cold water using the turkey baster (actually let us stick it right in the hole) and we were able to escape any infection and it closed nicely on it's own. A turkey baster is a must in a first aid kit.
