Posted on Saturday, Jan 17, 2004 - 8:46 am: I was wondering if anyone has used the Swiss Boots. I have heard they are better than the Old Mac's and was just looking for some feedback. |

Posted on Sunday, Jan 18, 2004 - 12:34 pm: Nancy - I am in the middle of trying to make a decision as to what boot to buy? Had planned on the Old Mac's but my geldings feet were 4 sizes different from width to length and I was concerned about a proper fit with the wedges so I went looking in other directions. I was zeroing in on the Marquis boot - more expensive but has replacable parts - including sole - which I thought in the long run may end up cheaper. Have had good and bad comments on them. Now there are two new boots coming on the market. The Boa Horse Boot should be out by the end of Feb in the US. It has a one dial fastener - same type as a snow board. I talked to a local girl who is testing it and she said it was really good. May be cheaper than Old Mac's also. They are working on another one that she could not give me any information on as of yet - still in development but not that far away. My understanding is it will be a newer version of the easyboot. Both are from the company that makes the easyboot. So I am still in limbo and waiting for more information.Janet Schmidt |

So this is just more information to muddle the brain and create confusion. Sometimes it seems that when you try to educate yourself to make a good decision you end up more confused than when you started! As a lot of it is based on personal opinion and experience. Horses feet are different and each horse travels different so what may work for one may not work for another. Good Luck Janet |

Posted on Sunday, Jan 18, 2004 - 7:06 pm: Hi Janet,I had the same problem with my horses feet when I first got the Old Macs. His length required a size 8, but his width required a size 4. I went for the biggest size. He wore the 8's for a couple of rides and I could see they were huge on him - but they never came off and he didn't get sore from them. I had him trimmed differently the next time the farrier came out and bought the size 4's for him. He is doing very well in them. My mare needs to wear inserts on her size 3 boots (which Old Mac's provides)and I put a sock over her hoof to keep the boot from chaffing her. She has had no problems with the boots. Best of all, they don't fall off. I've lost Swiss Boots and Easy Boots on trail rides and it gets expensive to have to replace them. I'll be sure to check out the Boa boots and keep my eyes open for new innovations in boots. But for now, I'll stick with the Old Macs. Nancy |

We had to take him to the regional 4-H production show with all four feet encased in Davis boots and athletic socks. We called them his Nikes!![]() ![]() |
