I would like your thoughts, on this....I'm trailering my horse from Northern MI too KY late March, in a stock trailer. I do have boards that I can put on the trailer too cut down on the wind, but, I don't have a blanket. Should I blanket my horse? I was thinking, of tieing her. and than at night let her walk around in the trailer. I do have shipping boots. But, never, let her try them out. Orr just wrap her legs in quileted bandages? And since, I've cut the wind down should I still put a fly mask on her? Any suggestions are helpful. Thank you

If it is going to be cold and windy I would blanket. I find shipping boots are easier to apply and I would not use the fly mask. DrO

Hi, Definitely have a blanket along just in case. I'm sure it can't be too warm in Northern MI in late March. Also, I wouldn't tie her at all day or night. Standing in one place for such a long period of time is tiring and most horses are happier riding facing the rear at a slant if allowed to. I hauled a young mustang in my two horse (with divider removed) from Oregon to Northern Washington and he faced the rear the entire way looking out the back door. I also hauled a horse from Washington to Idaho loose in our stock trailer and she rode facing the rear the whole way out too. Wrapping her legs with quilts would be a good idea. For long trips they would give her legs some support and ease some of the stress. On rest stops I would unload her, unwrap, walk her around a bit and rewrap before loading up. Hope these tips help. Have a good and safe trip. Holly
