Hi all,

Is there anyone out there that has any knowledge of the difference between Farriers Formula and the Source Hoof product? I am not happy with my 2 year olds hind feet. They get vertical cracks and tend to chip and flare. I have only tried the Source Hoof before. I am not familiar with results from Farriers Formula but have heard a lot of people talking about it here. I don't know if anyone has tried both and found one to be preferable over another or if anyone knows if they are pretty much the same ingredients anyway.

Thanks,
Ella

Hi Ella,
My ferrier recommends Hoof Rite. It's carried at most feed stores in Tucson, as well as the Ferrier Store. Works very well.
Have a good day, Shirl

Hello, Ella.

Sorry to hear you're having hoof issues.

Have had my mare on Farrier's Formula for a year with great results.

Have you visited Source (www.4source.com/)and Life Data Labs (www.lifedatalabs.com) web sites? Nutrient info is posted on these sites.

Ella, I would take our recommendations in the article then compare them to the products available to you.

Hello Ella,
I am a "Farriers Formula" girl myself and a happy one at that. Couple of other things you might want to consider is:
Have a chat with your farrier about this and see if he/she can offer any solutions.
Ground conditions have gone from wet and muddy to dry.
Both of these companies state that it will take 1 to 3 months to start seeing some results as new hoof grows in.
Hope this helps.

Thanks all, I appreciate the feedback. She is a beautiful filly with not so beautiful feet. I would like to make the two match.

Thanks,

Ella

Hi Ella,

I am sold on Horseshoer's Secret! My horse, a Palomino Paint Florida Cracker was a rescue horse and his hooves were awful (rough, dark banding around them) including a bad thrush infection. With some loving daily care and the supplement for 3 months, his hooves are now white, clean and grow so nicely the farrier loves his 4 week visits. :-)

Hope this helps.

Karen-I was just curious, what is a "Florida Cracker?" Is it a Florida version of a Mustang? It's a term I don't remember hearing before. Thanks.
