How high should an automatic water be placed for the average sized horse (15 hands)?

Hello Bonnie,
Low enough so that he can easily reach it? There is no set height though specific circumstances can sometimes dictate a optimum height. For instance horses that like to poop in their water buckets would say it should be higher than the dock.
