I have just brought my horses home to stay (we will be showing this fall and spring). They have been in various barns over the past year and the vaccination schedule has been consistent except for giving strangles. My 3 year old received intranasal strangles in March of 06 with a booster that followed but has not received an intranasal for this year. My 5 year old received the intranasal and booster in November of 06. They have just had their regular fall shots but I did not want the intranasal given at the same time. My question is, can they both just have the intranasal dose or will the 3 year old also need another booster since it has been over a year since his last treatment? Thanks! Susanne

We really do not know how much time can pass before the primary immunization will need to be repeated. I usually give a 12 month allowance for boostering but as to whether this is really effective or even a longer time could be allowed is not known at this time.
