Hi Dr. O I have been told that ground flax is great for hooves, so I went to www.ingredients101 and found the makeup of flax; as far a s I can tell there is no biotin but there is magnesium methionine 2.3grams/per100grams. Is that a useful amount? Is there a natural product that has enough biotin in it? I have used a hoof product that has biotin at the rate of 810667MCG/kg but I don't know how that compares to the amount you recommend. This product also states that it has DL-Methionine in it but does not state how much. Can you only get this in a feed supplement? Is molasses good for anything other than snall amounts to make certain feed more appealing? Thanks

Hello Lori, Taking your quesions one at a time:- Yes that is a useful amount if you feed 100 grams a day.
- Biotin is available in fresh green hay and grass but the amounts varies.
- 81,000 micrograms equals 81 milligrams but your dose rate depends on how much you feed daily.
- Methionine is an amino acid so any food high in protein will be high in methionine.
- Yes it binds the supplements to the grain so they stay evenly dispersed through the feed.

Lori, This hoof product is 810,000 micrograms/kgr = 810 milligrams/kgr (a minor correction so you don't get mixed up) Christos
