Hi DrO,
I am a new member and wanted to share our story about our 2 yr old Paint filly. She recd her 2nd annual WN vac this year with all the other horses. One hour later we found her completely covered in large and small hives, head DrOoping, eyes and nose w/advanced swelling. Immediately called our vet back, he gave steroid shot, she slowly recovered. Vet said he had never seen such a reaction. We are worried about vac next year, since there is a lot of WN in this part of CO?
thanks,
Mary

Hello Mary,
When you say her 2nd annual: is she receiving this twice a year? Was this the only vaccine given at the time? What brand of vaccine was used.

Hi DrO,
2 year old filly Alaya had one WN vac last year and one this year that she reacted so severely to.
I will check with our vet for the brand, don't have it in my file. Yes, this was the only vac given at this time. Vet suggested doing all the vacs that day, but I wasnt comfortable with that, so we gave only WN, thank goodness. Might have lost her otherwise.
Will email brand name as soon as I get it.
thank you very much,
Mary
