Does anyone know where I can find plans to build a run-in shed for my 2 mini donks? I am thinking 8x10 should be big enough...3 sided and rock dust floor... I have seen shed kits but they have wooden floors and I worry about the strength...especially if urine is involved. This size is also about $1100-surely I can builde one for less? If anyone has built one, any idea on estimate cost for materials?

Besides the recommendations in the article I have some ideas: 1) I would build a "pole" building by sinking pressure treated 4x4's 2 feet in the ground taking extra time to be sure they are plumb and square before tamping them. 3) Tamp with Sakrete concrete. Do not add water it will harden over the next year as it absorbs water from the soil 3) Material costs vary tremendously depending on location and even when you buy you may not be able to accurately compare your siuation with others. Leah; Hi I have a mini donkey who stays outside all the time. Actually he's really too short to be in my traditional horse stalls...His nose is below the bars so he doesn't get proper ventialtion. I have a traditional 3 sided pole barn type run in for my horses which I know he uses regularly. It's divided into three sections one being 12 x10 and the other two slightly longer but still 10 feet deep. My older gelding (horse not donkey) and the mini donkey share the 12 x 10 often when it rains and have enough room to "play" in there when they get bored. So 8 x 10 should be plenty for two minis. I agree with Dr. O. A pole type building would be best. They don't have to cost a lot, although I would suggest a metal building lined with good hard wood kick panels. And line every wooden edge with steel corner gaurds. Mini donks are just another form of very large termites.....get my drift. They will chew on anything they can get their little teeth on. Good luck with your donks. They are a joy. Lisa
