I was just wondering if either of these help with upper respiratory issues. Someone also told me that RVI can help prevent tying up in horses. I also heard that 80% of horse (per Pfizer's site) exhibit symptoms of EHV even though they don't really have the full-blown disease...soooooo, I guess what I'm asking is if giving RVI or the Parapox is a good thing ?

Hello Rodney,
Note that these are not "vaccines" but therapy to be given during illness and whether they help is an uncertain thing. Some of these nonspecific immune modulating therapies have been shown to decrease the symptoms and shorten the course of viral respiratory diseases but often these studies have been conducted or funded by the company producing the product. History suggests that sometimes such research is unusually "rosy". Diseases of Horses » Nervous System » Incoordination, Weakness, Spasticity, Tremors » Equine Herpes Encephalopathy does list some specific antiviral therapies which have a little better research to back up the claim they may help prevent more serious disease.
