Hello SG, Considering PSGAG's pharmacology of rapid clearance from the blood and concentration into the joint "therapeutic blood levels" may not be a good measure of dosing frequency. For more on using Adequan including recommended dosage frequencies see HorseAdvice.com » Treatments and Medications for Horses » Anti-inflammatories (NSAID's, Steroids, Arthritis Rx) » Adequan, use in Arthritis. Dr.O has a wealth of info posted on this subject. Our Arabian endurance mare has been sound since the loading doses and one injection IM monthly. This mare was also treated twice for lyme, end of '08 and again in the fall of '09. Her endurance record is available at the AERC website- her name is Wirtual Dream.

Thanks TPMiller I have had great results as well with the loading dose and then the follow up every 21 days. But I have gotten another horse that isn't responding as well as the vet would have liked. He and I was visiting and he said there had been some conversations at some meetings that the relief wasn't lasting but about 96 hours in some horses. I have read Dr.O's information on Adequan and couldn't find this specific information. Was hoping to find some more info about it

SG, some horses do not respond at all, much depends on the details of the arthritis. There is no work on "how long" it works and the effects will almost assuredly vary from individual to individual. In fact it has not been easy to find an effect in the joint at all but this is all covered in the article I reference above. DrO
