I haven't had to do this in a while, but came across this part of the website and thought I would share this... Large IV bag with one end cut off makes a great foot soak bag. I asked my vet to save the bags for me when they were empty. The plastic is really strong. You can fill them with your soaking fluid and then duct tape the top around the pastern. Be sure to not tape it tight. Some will leak out but the majority stays in. Put a dog ear (fold the end of the tape over) so you can remove the tape easily. I clean the hoof thoroughly and set it on a towel then apply the bag. Some horses may spook (weird object attached to them) so you will have to use discretion with that issue. You don't want anything to happen.

Great idea Jeanne. These also work just the opposite. If you have a horse with a bandaged foot or lower leg and have to walk them across muddy ground you can tie one on and keep the bandage protected for a short time. Works like a charm!
