Hi Gang,

Just looking for advice on extracting a bean one-handed. My horse is one of those that tends to create a lot of smegma. I have the vet do him under sedation in spring and fall (taking out smaller beans both times/year) but I do him likely every 1-2 months when his legs start getting gunky. I usually use KY jelly and warm water. He is quite patient about it but will not DrOp. I can generally feel a bean but have not managed to get one out one-handed. If I could, then we could do away with with the spring and fall sedation. I can get my finger in there and feel it but do not seem to have enough space in the fosa to get behind the bean and pop it out. Any hints?

thanks

Hello Lynn,
Don't try to get in the fossa, instead push on the head of the penis just behind the fossa and the bean. It always pops out pretty quick this way.

Thanks Dr O.,

I'll give that a try!
