I found this on the Horsesforlife website. https://horsesforlife.com/content/view/1801/1526/ If the link don't let you open it, register and when you get to the page where they want you to subscribe, just go back til you get to the home page. Once I signed in I could read some of the articles for free. The one above is in vol 53. I was watching youtube videos of Hempfling and the above site is listed as having some of his writings.

I guess no one wanted to go through the hassle of signing up for the site? It is a free article. You can register without paying by going back after you get your user name and password; at least that worked for me.

The print was too little for me to read. I have this on my to read list this weekend when I figure out how to make the print bigger! Been winterizing and getting the horses paddock re-built after our flooding rains this summer. BTW didn't need to sign in when I clicked your link.

Diane, Go to www.thehorseshoof.com and right away you'll see that you can download the FREE number 35 issue, summer 2009. The Live Frog article is on page 10. And I wish I would have printed the article from that site instead of the first one! https://www.thehorseshoof.com/ Sorry I made it so hard for everyone! Or hmmm...maybe it wasn't on thehorseshoof site when I went there earlier? Or maybe I have the beginnings of old age senility?? At any rate, I thought it was a very fascinating Great dissection pictures of the frog, tubules, digitial cushion. The frog is much MUCH more than the black rubbery part we see on the bottom of the hoof.

I'm looking forward to reading the article, but am waiting until I'm laid up. I plan to catch up on a lot of reading then; there's been a lot of new stuff posted on HA, new articles by Dr.O that I'm behind on. I think I need updating, esp on the care of my two chronic lameness cases, Libby and Sahira. So, thanks for posting this link, and I'll be reading it soon.

Sara, this is completely off topic, but I believe in another thread you are headed for surgery on Monday? Just wanted to wish you the best for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery.

Thanks Fran. Like my two older mares, I've been chronically lame all summer. This surgery gives me an 80 to 85% chance of having a good foot again. Actually, it is interesting as the proceedure the doctor is going to use, he learned by working with vets on horses! It's "off label" but he's had very good results with it, and it's the only thing that might make my bone heal. Maybe I should have just gone to the vet I took Libby to in the first place! Bet he could have done it and it would have been a lot cheaper! I doubt insurance would cover it though. LOL I go up to Park City Monday, and have surgery Tuesday.

O.K. Sara, and everyone, as long as this is all still "hoof" related! Just remember to take your um, stall rest, seriously!

I'll have to re-read the article on keeping stall bound horse happy and see if any of it will work for me.
