Hi my 4 year old gelding is being started under saddle and is fairly laid back in a halter but really emotional if a contact is taken up so I got his teeth checked and he had a large wolf tooth with quite a lot of crown on the right side. He was worse on right rein so I had it removed to rule it out. How long does it take to heal well enough to try the bit in again as I dont want him to associate pain with the bit but at the same time I dont want to leave him too long while ridden work is all fresh in his mind? Thanks

I would recommend a bosal for the first 3 weeks after. If one is not available ground driving is a good way to keep his mind on whoa, gee, and haw.
