The barn manager where I have my horse wants to change from Spillers Cool Fibre to Spillers High Fibre Cubes as they're considerably cheaper and, she feels, more substantial especially if the cubes are soaked into a mash.

Although Spillers usually list the ingredients of their various feeds, in the case of the High Fibre Cubes it's almost impossible to find them, and the company hasn't replied to my enquiry. Eventually I found the ingredients on docstoc, and was perplexed to see "oatfeed" and "wheatfeed".

DrO, what exactly are these ingredients, and what is your opinion of them?

Many thanks.

You got me LL I have have not seen a definition of either and figure it could be anything from the hay to straw to grain, both of which could be labeled oat or wheat feed. The only reference on the internet to oat feed I find is at
https://jas.fass.org/content/1929/1/72.full.pdf. But whether this is to what they refer I have not a clue.

Thanks DrO.

I came up with this article while searching. The author certainly seems to lambast a wide range of feed ingredients!
