Posted on Monday, Jul 7, 2014 - 6:36 pm: We have a 2 year old colt that is currently being halter trained by an exchange student from Germany. She is concerned about his upper teeth. We think it is just normal development as the baby teeth fall out and new ones come in, but would like your opinion. Any thoughts would be appreciated! |

Mouths can look so funny when teeth are coming in and baby teeth falling out. This guy is huge for his age and won't be put under saddle until he is a true 3, so a bit won't be an issue for another year. :-) Hope you are having a wonderful summer! |

I had no idea we'd done it and certainly didn't expect it; I'm always happy if I make it around without getting lost. LOL Mikey is such a wonderful horse; I can feel him extending his gait, or shortening his stride and chipping in an extra step so we don't hit anything. I love the boy to death! Here is a link to his latest filly, owned by Beaver Creek Arabians in GA. She is about 3 mo. in this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MfFEpDr2xTk&feature=youtu.be Do you have new baby pics? |

Picture of Mikey? or link to your site? Here is a youtube of some of our babies.... Enjoy! This year's are exceptional. Not sure if any are in this baby video though. Walter put it together. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-RvQZsDRhQ&feature=share&list=UUmOungN6mg0_wGWi Hb4eakQ&index=1 |

Otherwise I'll shrink some pictures down so I can post them here asap.I honestly haven't had time to even look at your video, but will this evening. Nothing I like better than looking at beautiful horses! Do you know Elizabeth Kaufman? I think she is on HA but not not sure. She is in CO and breeds some nice looking PREs. |

Amazingly beautiful horses. Which stallion is nicknamed Mikey? Both are breath-taking!Walter made that movement video showing the sires first, then the offspring. He really enjoys putting videos together. :-) Have a blessed day Sara! Judy |

Particularly the middle incisors (between the central and corner incisors). The centrals will be lost this year but the middles are not lost until 3 1/2 years of age. Does he chew on things and worn them down or is this as much development as you have seen? DrO |

Posted on Thursday, Jul 10, 2014 - 10:40 am: He is in about an acre paddock with grass covered sand base. There are no trees inside the paddock (they are immediately on the outside of the fence) and the fence is metal or wood covered with horse wire, so he really doesn't have access to wood to chew. We have never seen him chew on things. He eats well, has gained weight appropriately and seems healthy. We haven't paid too much attention to the development of his teeth, so don't know the answer to your question re: whether they are worn down or just not well developed. Is there any action to be taken? |

Posted on Thursday, Jul 17, 2014 - 6:15 am: It does not look to me like the sand would cause this, the wear pattern is not quite right. Without any known reason for the excessive wear and not being able to do anything about developmental abnormalities, I cannot think of anything other than making sure he has easily prehended food available. I don't see any reason that normal adults would not come in.DrO |

In the meantime, email me and I'll send you a link or photos through email. If it rains this afternoon, I'll work on getting them up here. I need to update my profile anyway! |
