  Discussion on Rice bran use

I found rice bran helps my horse to keep weight in the winter and in the spring. I give him 1 cup mixed with two of water once or twice a week with his treats.

Somebody told me that i should spread this over the 7 days so he gets the same food every day!
Any comments.

By the way my horse is 21 and I found this helps keep add weight without the yahoos of grain. I also found helpful two tablespoons of sunflower oil with his meal.

Monica,
I have an 18 year old mare that was in pretty lousy condition when I got her 3 months ago. I started feeding her rice bran right after I got her, and worked up to about 1 lb a day. She put on weight at a good rate, and it really brightened up her coat.
I don't think that feeding only a cup once or twice a week will hurt, as far as digestion, and if he's doing OK, why change? The oil is probably helping as well.
