I like to use the egg crate type foam mattress pads cut into pieces for under leg wraps on a horse with a tendon injury who needs to stay wrapped for a long period of time. The foam forms a cushion and you don't have to worry about cutting off circulation by getting the wrap too tight or not on smoothly. You can use cotton under the foam if you are concerned about the foam staying next to the skin for prolonged periods of time. You need of course, to unwrap and re-wrap and massage the leg once or twice daily. The mattress pads can be purchased most of the time for under 20.00 and you will have cushioning for years to come.

I forgot to mention that when you take the padding off, if it is smashed down, just use a second piece when you re-wrap, and by the next wrapping, the smashed one will be back in shape.
