As a follow-up to this, I have a 15mo Paso Fino that I would like to start on the daily wormer. The other horses in the barn are all on it at this time. Based on your recommendations above, it sounds like he would no longer be "naive" of worms and parasites. He has been given a rotation of ivermectrin and others since his birth. What would be your conventional wisdom on starting him on the daily?

From both these standpoints, naive exposure and the more recently uncovered problem that daily pyrantel does not work well in foals, you should be fine to begin pyrantel. My biggest concern is that if daily pyrantel has been used on the premises for more than a few years you may have a resistant population of parasites established. See the article Overview of Deworming for more.
