Discussion on Pasture grass for Southwest U.S.
Author Message

Posted on Tuesday, Feb 22, 2000 - 12:02 pm:

I want to improve my pasture by adding some variety of grass to what naturally grows, and would like some suggestions for grasses that do well in chronic DrOught and heavy soils during the cool season. I will probably plant Bermuda (St. Augustine) for the summer months. We get no rain during the summer and water is very expensive here, so if someone has a better idea, jump right in. Rye grass will grow here during the winter (rainy months--about 8-12" total), but the horses don't seem to like it all that much. I'm in central California. Thank you.
