Hi again, this time I have a warmblood mare which was diagnosed with upper suspensory disease about 18 months ago. She was sent to Onderstepoort where all sorts of examinations were conducted, sonars, centigraphy? etc where they finally decided that the suspensory ligament had pulled away from the bone near the hock. Prior to this she was 5 and jumping 90cm jumps competitively when she came out of the paddock lame behind. She was rested for 6 months but was still lame. She was also given courses of bute etc
The local vet says the suspensory ligament is actually trapped between two bones in the hock area. Have you ever heard of this?
We put her in foal 10 months ago as we did not know what else to do and she is extremely well bred.
The other option we were given was to sever the tibial nerve, which would make her sound to ride, but I am not to happy with that option.
Thanx

No I am not sure what he means by trapped between 2 bones. You should call and get a further description of what is going on. Be sure to take notes.
