Discussion on Peruvian Paso with Sore Feet
Author Message

Posted on Wednesday, Mar 22, 2000 - 11:53 pm:

I don't know what is going on with my 10 year old Peruvian. After every foot trim he develops soreness in his front feet. I put shoes on him every summer because he also gets sore walking on gravel. He seems to do well with his shoes but when we take them off he's back to limping in one or both of his front feet. Right now, 3 months after his last trim, with the weather starting to warm up and he's in the pasture more and moving more, he is starting to limp again. I've eliminated the 2nd cutting hay that he used to get mixed in with the 1st cutting hay over the cold winter months and he seems to be doing better. I need specific information about how to trim a Peruvian's foot so I can give to my farrier. Anyone have any information? Becky REABEEE@aol.com

On average how often are you trimming / reshoeing Rebecca? I suspect the recent problem is different than the post-trimming problem.
