Discussion on Put oil in feed
Author Message

Posted on Wednesday, Aug 1, 2001 - 11:51 am:

I put oil in my horses feed. For about two scoops of feed, I put in about 1/4 cup of oil. I started doing this to rid my horses feed of dust. I found out later that it also made their coats very shinny, even in winter. Then I talked to a horse nutritionist that said the oil was also good for the horses because the horses body could absorb and use the fats in oil allot faster and easier than from their regular food, giving them "fuel" (energy) faster and easier. This is not run away with you energy. It's every day energy, such as for keeping warm in the winter. Best yet, oil is cheap. I can get a 5 gallon container of vegetable or corn oil for under $10. from a food distributor.
