I see that keeping the parts affected by scratches is very important. I have two choices here. Keep my horse tied 24/7, (because I only have 3 sided sheds and it has been sprinkling some most every day/or snowing/ for 39 days) or some type of bandageing.
I have read the article on bandaging but am still not sure the best way to go.
One person used pillow wraps and vetwrap. Seems OK.
Many people also report sweeling in the affected legs; would the aboce style bandage help with swelling as well? Thank you.

I personally would discourage putting pressure wraps and bandages in general on horses legs that are turned out in pastures and not monitored frequently: I worry about the bandaging shifting and acting like a tournaquet. See the article associated with this forum for more: Equine Diseases » Skin Diseases » Scratches, Grease Heel, Dew Poisoning, & Mud Fever. Perhaps one of the barrier ointments could help you.
