Has anyone heard of a new strain of or similiar to HYPP? Please let mr know as we have a QH with no Impressive in her lines that is showing symptoms closely resembling those of HYPP.

The symptoms of such diseases as HYPP, EPM, EMND, EPSM and others can all - on th surface- be similar. The best course of action for any horse showing these symptoms is to have a complete check by a vet quickly. The one common factor to all of these is that the quicker the horse recieves treatmetn the better chance they have for a productive life.

Hello Leslie,
I was talking with a Dr. at one of the veterinary schools/referral centers around here. She said she felt she had seens horses with HYPP like symptoms who were HYPP negative and was wondering if this were a simple genetic defect of if there may not be other as yet unidentified problems in horses. Understand this is all just conjecture and I have not seen these individuals.
