12 yr old mare underwent a c-section surgery this spring. Shortly after her return I noticed a slight swelling on front of ankle-no lameness. Vet commented it may be a windpuff on the extensor tendon (possibly caused by the cuffs used for lifting her during her surgery). She is in full work (Dressage upper level), shows no lameness, but the "windpuff" area has a thickened feeling to it and increases in size during work-to about the size of a small egg, very round in shape. Does not act or feel like the typical windpuff I have seen. Could this be something other than a windpuff and could work turn this into a problem

First I think we need a diagnosis as to what this is, an ultrasound should provide this, then a proper treatment and prognosis can be made. It may not be a big deal but I do not like that it worsens with exercise and this suggests further work is warrented. I would think at the very least an attempt should be made to keep it from blowing out during exercise. DrO
