Posted on Thursday, Jul 24, 2003 - 8:21 pm: Tim's Pharmacy & Gift Shop - Yelm, Washington is the least expensive place for Pergolide in the capsule form. I pay $109.00 for a 4 months supply which comes to about 27.00 per month + S&H...To get this price you have to order 4 months supply. I use .75mg Pergolide at this price. You can get to his web page at www.timspharmacy.com. |

Posted on Sunday, Feb 13, 2005 - 5:52 pm: Hi,Does anyone have current places and prices on pergolide/permax? I have been getting them from Petpharm and the price per 100 has gone up from $269 to over $400 canadian over the last 6 months. My vet is coming on Feb. 16th Wednesday and I need to have him give me a prescription and I just can't afford Petpharm anymore. She gets 1.5 mg a day. Thanks Lori |

Posted on Monday, May 23, 2005 - 9:45 pm: Just contacted the above referenced Veterinary Pharmacies of America in Houston. (877-838-7979) They quoted me a price of $95/100 (1 mg). That is the same price that it seems (according to a previous post) that they were charging 3 years ago. Talked to one of the pharmacist as did our vet. They were very helpful and shipped out the next day. They did tell our vet that there is a 120 day shelf life on the pills so you need to be aware of that when ordering. |

Posted on Saturday, May 27, 2006 - 12:55 pm: Cheryl,A lot of folks use Pet Health Pharmacy. 1/800-742-0516. The cost would depend on the strength I suspect. Your vet would need to give you a prescription or fax it to them. I used the capsules for my Cushing's horse - easy to give as they are small. Just DrOp on minerals/pellets and they go down easy, or serve in a handful of low carb pellets. Shirl |

Posted on Thursday, Oct 8, 2009 - 11:46 am: Can someone tell me where current information on less expensive pergolide can be found? I remember reading a post where someone mentioned using pergolide pills that were relatively inexpensive, but don't seem to be finding it.Thanks. |

Posted on Thursday, Oct 8, 2009 - 5:10 pm: Sara, some people posted where they get theirs at in my cushings thread about Samhttps://www.horseadvice.com/horse/messages/4/349425.html I have to do a little research this weekend, because I was considering switching to the pills, from the liquid, but I wonder if it is as effective? I know the liquid looses it's "power" after 35 days so would have to order it a month at a time...Sam is doing so well on it I don't know if I want to switch to the pills...but that is yet another thread |

Posted on Thursday, Oct 8, 2009 - 5:55 pm: Thanks Diane. I've just started Beau on the liquid at 0.5ml but was wondering about finding it less expensively. The liquid is easier imo, and I have a small 'frig in the barn so keeping it cool isn't a problem. If the pills or powders were less expensive though, I could make them work. |

Posted on Thursday, Oct 8, 2009 - 6:35 pm: I'd like to find the liquid form a little cheaper, It's not really easier, but I wonder if it is more effective or more readily absorbed in the liquid form? From the little bit of research I have done it isn't really regulated so you want to go with a pharmacy that has a good reputation.I am giving Sam .65 ml and that seems perfect for him. The stuff the vet ordered from wedgewood was for a 1ml dose for 55 days I think. It is expensive, but it is working, do I want to mess with a pill form? Recent research has shown that liquid pergolide starts loosing it's effectiveness (kept in optimal conditions) at 35 days so I most definitely am only going to get a months supply at a time from now on If I stick with the liquid. Where did you get yours from and what was the cost? How's Beau doing? |

Posted on Thursday, Oct 8, 2009 - 7:57 pm: Sara, Dr. Kellon, the Yahoo cushing's group's attending vet does not recommend liquid for the reason Diane states. It loses effectiveness even quicker if not stored dark/cool. Also, one doesn't know how long it sat before you got it.I get capsules that my picky eater doesn't even notice. Eats em right up. From Todd's Harvard Park Pharmacy , great prices, nice people. You can call them for a price quote: Todd's 950 E Harvard Ave Denver, CO 80210 (303) 733-3755 Erika |

Posted on Thursday, Oct 8, 2009 - 8:31 pm: We give our 27 yr.old QH Jack 1 ml. liquid (from Wedgewood Pharmacy) once a day and Evitex. It is pricey, but he is doing great on it. I think the pergolide is about $140 per bottle, but it last about 6 wks.(refridgerated). |

Posted on Thursday, Oct 8, 2009 - 9:47 pm: Sara, I get Paint's pergolide from ThrivingPets.com which according to my invoice is Todd's Pharmacy in Denver. For 30 1 mg. capsules it is $15 + $5 shipping by priority mail. Since Denver isn't far from Albuquerque I have received it no later than 2 days. He will eat it with his pellets in the mornings, but the other day I forgot it and when I rushed out he had already finished his bucket, he ate it out of my hand w/no problems...then again, not a picky eater at all.I have read the same as others re: stability problems with liquids. |

Posted on Friday, Oct 9, 2009 - 12:55 am: I just changed recently to Wedgewood, like Diane. Of all the ones I've used over the years, they came in the cheapest for me. I use the powder mixed in applesauce given by syringe, but they have all the other forms. I'll have to check out Todd's, that Erika mentioned. If you want to check Wedgewood 405 Heron Drive Swedesboro, NJ 08085 800-331-8272 Wish I had a price, but I can't find the invoice from this last order....I can find 300 other invoices for vets and meds back to 2007, but OF COURSE I can't find this ONE. It's late, and I'm cross-eyed, and my brain failed about an hour ago...zzzzzzzz |

Posted on Friday, Oct 9, 2009 - 7:35 am: Sara I e-mailed Todd's pharmacy and asked for a price and they e-mailed me back the same dayFor .75mg it was .48 cents for capsules + $5 shipping. MUCH cheaper than the liquid, I suppose .5 ml would be even cheaper. |

Posted on Friday, Oct 9, 2009 - 8:12 am: Diane,Just a thought because Sam's dose is .65, Does Todd's Pharmacy make smaller dosage pills or could they? Maybe you could get .50 dosage and .05 to make up his correct dosage. Or do you think his dosage will change once you switch to the pills. The other thing is maybe they could score the tablets so they would be easier to cut to get the right dosage. I know the things I think of this early in the morning, I just had my second cup of coffee, so my brain is about up to working speed. When my old dog was on Rimydal for her arthritis, the vet gave us two different size pills to make the correct dosage. I am just wondering it Todd's can do the same. Rachelle |

Posted on Friday, Oct 9, 2009 - 8:52 am: Sara - back in 2006 when I was trying to find a reasonable price for the pergolide - Todd - of Todd's Pharmacy - was reading through Horse Advice - he contacted me with their prices - My Vet called a prescription to them - I think at the time the shipping was free - they were great to deal with and there was never a delay in receiving the meds- They were in the form of a capsule which I on top of her feed. Very picky eater - I just put a small handful of feed in her pan \ dumped the pergolide on top of it - she ate it in one bite - then she got the rest of her feed - Worked great. Lady did not know she was getting meds - if she had she would have starved to death before taking a bite.Cheryl |

They are always very nice about answering questions, and I get their shipments within two days of ordering.I don't know exactly what I pay for our 1.5mg dose, but I know everyone I refer to them has said they are cheaper.
