Discussion on White patch in ear
Author Message

Posted on Saturday, May 18, 2002 - 9:14 pm:

Dear Dr. O, A friend of mine has a standardbred gelding and the horse has a white patch in one ear. My friends vet told him it was a form of cancer and that nothing could be done about it. The horse is become increasingly hard to bridle. He dosen't want to get rid of the horse or put him down because he is only eight years old and he really likes the horse. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hello Cathy,
Go to Equine Diseases: Skin Diseases: Overview of Bumps, Nodules, Warts & Tumors and read the paragraph about aural plaques. I think this will better explain the problem. When you get done running a search on the term should bring up a lot of discussion about it too.
