Posted on Sunday, Sep 8, 2002 - 9:39 am: I wanted to update the issue with the Dengie hay. Shortly after posting above, I recieved an email from the president of Lucerne Farms (producer of Dengi hay). He was notably upset about the light cast on his company by the posting of my experiences. Noting several errors in his email to me regarding how my problem was dealt with...or NOT dealt with.........I called the company. Although the president was unavailable at the time, he did call back very quickly.I wanted to revisit this post because I was very impressed with the way I was treated on the phone. During a very lengthy conversation, I was able to voice my concerns, explain the problems I encountered, ask many questions about distributorship and processing procedures, and even learn about new products and pricing. Throughout the entire discussion Lucerne Farms seemed very concerned about my experiences and my opinions. The president was beyond cordial........he was open and friendly and willing to talk for as long as I liked. After this conversation I must say that I am much more impressed with the company. Accidents do happen in the best of circumstances, and my initial post explained that it was the lack of response from the company more than the actual metal that concerned me. Since that issue has been resolved, I no longer have such reservations about Lucerne Farms. However, despite the many safeguards Lucerne farms has in place........and after talking to them, I realize that they have many.............things can still get through. So, just as you would with any other feed or hay, make sure that you inspect it each and everytime it goes into the feed bin. I still do not use Dengi at this time, but I do not have the same reservations about perhaps using it in the future. |

Posted on Saturday, Sep 28, 2002 - 2:36 pm: Just an update about my horse, Lucky. I talked to my vet about prednisolone vs prednisone and he agreed that we should try prednisolone. I have him on 20 tablets twice a day and it does seem to help. He still breathes heavy and sometimes has a wheeze but overall he is not in as much distress as he was. Of course the weather is nicer now, if that has anything to do with it--not as hot and humid. He is out 24/7.Thanks, Heather for your update about Dengie hay. I looked into it and the cost for me is prohibitive. Right now, he is being maintained and I feel that's all I am going to be able to do. thanks, all Vicki |
