I'm about to start fostering a 1993 TB that has been diagnosed (through 'x-rays') to have spurs in vertebrae extensions. As a result he is sound in all ways except that he cannot have any weight on his back. Others have referred to this as kissing spine disease, but it doesn't sound like it is. Could you point me to information about this topic? I'm trying to find out what his needs will be, is this progressive, even without a rider, are there other activities that should be limited? Thanks for any help Kami BTW, this guy is looking for a permanent home if there are any potential adopters you can see Frito Bandito at www.crossedsabers.com

Hello Kami, The article associated with this forum explains the difficulty with diagnosing spinal disease from radiographs, read it carefully. Then follow the link in the article on diagnosing spinal cord disease, it explains typical symptoms. You should have these radiographs reviewed by a experienced radiologist so that the exact lesions can be described, perhaps then there significance could be determined. DrO
