Looking at buying a horse with ERU in one eye, has not been tested for Lepto. But I am concerned if he does have Lepto is he contagious to others?

Probably not. During the acute phase following the horses exposure the horses may excrete the organism for several weeks. But once established the eye and immune system more or less confines the organism to specific areas. I am afraid Lepto is somewhat ubiquitous and found where ever you find rats and livestock. For more run a search.
