Samples from a neighboring county are being currently tested for WMV. I noticed some unusual behavior in a "weanling" fawn last night and got to wondering what wildlife would be affected. One of the articles mentions mice and bats in addition to some birds. Since cattle apparently have not been effected, would ruminents in general be safe? What about other wildlife? Quail?

Hello Nancy,
Go to the article on WNV (one below the EWVEE article you are in now on the neuro disease list) and you will find a list of known affected species. That list is aout a year old, I will look around and see if there is anything more and if so will update the article.

I found this link going through the articles: https://www.nwhc.usgs.gov/research/west_nile/wnvaffected.html

I guess ruminents are safe. Quail are not mentioned. Raccoons and skunks are on the list.

I think the young deer was either hungry or fleeing a preditor--it came crashing down the hill when I was feeding my donkeys and stayed about 10 feet from me while I was feeding.

Between sudden oak death and WNV, the wildlife in our area are at risk.
