Is there a way to have a Cushing's tumor diagnosed by use of a cat scan or MRI?

Not really and it is a bit like using the Hubble telescope to see if the kids are in the back yard. The diagnosis are pretty straightforward and in the majority of cases often not requiring even lab work. Read the article carefully and most important, does your older horse have any of the symptoms. I recently bought a pony who was taking medication for hypothyroid. My vet said to take him off the medication and put him on bermuda hay with no treats and lots of exercise. We have done this and he has lost some weight. Last week he developed an attitude and starting bucking the kids and myself. We can run him on a lunge line with the saddle and bridle but as soon as one of us get on the horse he tries to buck us. We noticed a mass on the front of his chest. He drinks a lot of water and seems to urinate often. He tosses his head, is very antsy and high headed. He has the high neck and abnormal fat deposits on his body. My ferrier said he had marks on his hoofs from laminitis in the past. We were never told about this. Could this be cushings? Why would he start bucking? Are these 2 related? He is only 10 years old. Where would the tumer be on Cushings? Thank you for any advice

Not Cushings but more likely Equine Metabolic SynDrOme which has breen referred to as "Peripheral Cushings", see Equine Diseases » Endocrine Disorders » Equine Metabolic SynDrOme (Peripheral Cushings). DrO
