What kind of return-to-work schedule do you recommend after a hock injection with HA and steroids?

Different vets in my area seem to suggest different schedules. One said an extremely sore horse could return to full work the next day. One says stall rest for a week followed by several days of hand walking three times a day.

My assumption is that these recommendations are at opposite extremes and a solid, safe recommendation lies somewhere in the middle. Am I wrong?

Hello Ann,
We go over this in our aricle on arthritis, see the intraarticular medicine heading in the article » Equine Diseases » Lameness » Diseases of Joints » Arthritis and DJD: An Overview.
