We just moved and one of our two pastures has several young pecan trees growing. Does anybody know if pecans (bark, leaves, nuts) are hazardous for horses? The databases don't list them, but would like to double-check. Many thanks,

While there have been no studies that I am aware of, there have been no reports of problems that I have seen either.

I boarded for 15 years in Texas at a stable that was in the middle of a park that was solid native pecan trees - the pecan is the State Tree of Texas after all - and the horses used to snack on the pecans all season, hulls and all. No one ever had a problem - except for your horse begging you out of the pecans you had shelled for yourself!
