Greetings everyone.
Today my mare was moved into a new stall, belonging to a horse being treated for EHV. The horse came into the barn sickly. Once he began training he developed a nasty cough that was diagnosed as EHV. He had been treated for over 30 days, although his cough seems to come and go. Is my mare at risk of contracting it? I vaccinate regularly, although she's not due for next shots for a couple of weeks. Should I administer the shots early? Should I attempt to disinfect the stall or should I just stop being such a worry wart?

The virus is only viable in the environment for less than 7 days in most conditions and no more than 35 days under the best conditions. So, if the horse has been out of that stall for more than 30 days the likelihood of there still being infective virus in that environment is small.
