Proposed for approval in early 2004 is a new generation of vaccine being developed for WNV. This vaccine is unique in that it is a vectored recombinant DNA vaccine. It is a type of modified live virus vaccine that works by infecting the vaccinated horse cell with DNA that then expresses WNV antigens...for more see the Prevention section of the WNV article.
