Since BAPTN has left the market there has been a flurry of injecting all kinds of things into tendons and ligaments including bone marrow stem cells, growth factor, and most recently a bladder extract. Though there have been articles published proposing these therapies, outlining rationales why these might work, and even some case studies in lay journals these are experimental procedures and there are no controlled studies published that I have seen yet.

When you look back over the history of these things they often seem to have initially great results that in time and the hard light of good studies are not much better than the traditional recommendations, but only time will tell if someone has found the silver bullet. If you are interested in persuing such therapy, start with your local veterinary university to see what they are doing and how your horse might fit in with their experiments.
