My 21 year old gelding has been diagnosed as a bilateral roarer, a condition that my vet has never seen before. He chokes on his food and it comes out of his mouth and nostrils when he tries to eat. He had a high WCC and has been treated with intramuscular penicillin for infection (possibly because of inhaled food in his lungs). He is a little happier in himself but it has not altered his choking. His throat is firm to touch but is not swollen and is symmetrical is shape. Have you heard or seen such a condition or could it be something else. My vet has scoped him and the gutteral pouch looked normal but his larynx looked collapsed on both sides. He is now losing weight as he cannot graze properly and gets dejected when he chokes on his food possibly because it is painful. Can you help
