Betadine is no longer made here in the UK. I have seen a povidone iodine solution made by Vetasept but am confused over the %
Betadine stated 10% but the Vetasept is 1%
Reading from a previous discussion 2 years ago on betadine % I am not sure if the Vetasept is a straight equivalent or not.
We are having exceptionally wet weather here and have 5 out of 14 horses with abscesses where my horse is kept. The betadine seems to have been excellent for my cushingoid gelding so any enlightenment on an alternative is very welcome.

Hello Marise,
it all depends on what that 1% is. Does it say 1% povidone or 1% available iodine? Betadine is 10% povidone which makes it 1% available iodine.

The Vetasept is 1% available iodine.
Thank you for clearing up my confusion. I am away for 2 weeks holiday and wanted to be certain I was leaving the correct strength for the person caring for my gelding.
