I have an 11 year old 17.2 Trakehner that I am trying to get sound for light dressage work. He probably has mild arthritis in hocks - they were recently radiographed and injected. In addition a small defect was noted in the RR suspensory which was initially thought to be recent and then was thought to be an old injury - there is scar tissue present. The possibility of injecting platelets into the ligament was suggested as a method of promoting healing. Do you find this procedure successful? Thank you.

Injecting platelets is an experimental therapy for desmitis and in a horse that is not experiencing a well defined disease of the ligament it is hard to figure how this might be of benefit...at least to the horse. Without a clear indication that this small suspensory defect is causing trouble I don't think any invasive treatment is sensible.
